| You are all part of the RNLI aren't you? |
No. We are a totally independent lifeboat. We work closely
with the RNLI but receive no funding from them. |
| How much are you paid? |
Nothing. All members of Sidmouth Lifeboat are volunteers.
All the money raised is used to equip the boat and crew. |
| How much does it cost to run the boat? |
Run at full speed the engines will use 15 gallons an hour
between them. This means that the fuel alone can cost £75.00 per hour! |
| Is the boat only operational during the day? |
No. The boat is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year. |
| Can I visit the boathouse and see the boat? |
Yes. Visitors are always welcome. The boat house is open
from 10am til 4:00pm every day, and a member of the support crew will be
happy to answer any questions for you. |
