First callout of the year for Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat

Date: 28.02.26

Time paged: 10:05

Callout #1

At 10:05, Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was paged by HM Coastguard following reports of a paddleboarder in difficulty near the rock islands at Sidmouth Beach.

Crew members assembled promptly and prepared to launch. However, before the lifeboat was launched, the casualty was able to self-recover safely.

We’re pleased the situation was resolved without further incident. This serves as a reminder to always check conditions, wear appropriate safety equipment, and carry a means of calling for help when heading out on the water.

In an emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
