Incident Report: concern for paddle boarder off Sidmouth
Date: 27.07.25
Time tasked: 21:15
Callout #: 10
Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was tasked by Solent Coastguard following a report from a member of the public on the promenade, who believed a paddle boarder appeared to be struggling to return to shore.
The lifeboat crew transited to the launch site and quickly located the individual in question – a kayaker, not a paddle boarder – who was by that time close to the shoreline and confirmed to be safe and well. No further assistance was required.
Thank you to the vigilant member of the public for raising the alarm.
As always, if you see someone in difficulty at sea, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
