Lifeboat responds to shouts of help from kayakers
Date: 17.06.25
Call-out #: 4
Time tasked: 19:55
Whilst out on exercise, Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat were tasked to Haven Cliffs, just east of Seaton, following reports of shouts for help from two kayakers on the cliff face. The lifeboat crew were on scene in just 10 minutes and located the casualty.
After reporting to Solent Coastguard the location of the casualty it was apparent that lifeboat access would be too tricky. Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat then directed Beer and Lyme Regis coastguard rescue teams to the casualty’s position. After discussing between rescue assets it was decided that a coastguard helicopter was needed to help evacuate the casualty from this position.
After the casualty was successfully winched up into the helicopter our volunteer crew were stood down and returned to station.
