Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat responds to reports of a swimmer in difficulty

Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was paged to reports of a swimmer in difficulty in the sea near Sidmouth Lifeboat Station.

Discussion took place with beach lifeguards who had just arrived on station, who had received reports of someone leaving the water; however, this casualty was unconfirmed. Details had been passed to Solent, and the decision was taken to launch.

Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat undertook a search along the coastline, westerly from Jacobs Ladder beach, and easterly to Salcombe Mouth.

After nothing was found, the lifeboat was stood down at 10.10.
