Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat retasked three times in search for missing person

Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat launched its Arctic 24 and Sidmouth 2 in a re-tasking to continue the afternoon’s search for a missing person.

Both Lifeboats conducted close inshore searches between Straight Point and Jacobs Ladder Beach. With failing light and nothing found, both vessels were stood down and returned to station.

Sidmouth Lifeboat was re-tasked to continue yesterday’s search for a missing person. A close inshore search was carried out between Hook Ebb and Straight Point, but unfortunately nothing was found.

The lifeboat remained on standby to assist as needed.

Sidmouth Lifeboat and Sidmouth 2 were launched to assist the Coastguard with the recovery of a body from the rock island off of Sidmouth. 

The casualty was transferred to Sidmouth 2 with the assistance of Sidmouth Lifeguards, and then to Sidmouth Lifeboat to be brought ashore. 

Police later confirmed that this recovery was in relation to the searches that had been carried out over the previous 36 hours.
