Multi-agency response to person in the River Axe

Date: 29.10.23

Time tasked: 09:37

Callout #: 16

[Updated at 18:46]

Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was tasked to a casualty in the water at the entrance to the River Axe. The casualty had been washed out of the river and was 30m offshore.

Lyme Regis RNLI, who were already at sea training in the area, had arrived on scene, but had to remain offshore due to the heavy surf conditions. Beer Coastguard, who were already on the beach, were able to pull the casualty from the water when they were washed closer inshore.

Sidmouth Lifeboat and Exmouth RNLI, who were also tasked, were stood down prior to launch, as Beer Coastguard was on scene treating the patient.

The casualty was taken to hospital and we wish them a speedy recovery.
